Trucare Health Group now offer patients access to Focused Shockwave Therapy.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is now commonly used to treat a range of conditions in orthopaedics, urology, aesthetics and veterinary applications.  

Shockwave is an innovative, non-surgical and non-invasive way to effectively treat tendon and muscular injuries in a much faster timeframe. High-energy waves work on a microscopic level to produce biological responses that facilitate tissue regeneration, form new blood and nerve vessels, and even help with stress fractures and other bone damage.

ESWT can be administered to patients with Radial Pressure Wave (RPW) or Focused Shockwave (F-SW).

Radial Shockwaves are produced with their highest energy at the skin surface. The energy decreases as the wave transmits into the tissue. Focused Shockwaves produce their highest energy at the focal zone. The depth of this focal zone can be adjusted by using standoffs.

It could be said that focused shockwaves are more ‘efficient’ in delivering the energy required to generate the pro-inflammatory effects in the tissue. 

Using piezo electric crystals, the Piezowave2 produces high-energy acoustic waves which are focused to a shockwave at precise depths. The therapy source does not use a parabolic mirror or reflector plate giving it the title of the only DIRECT focused shockwave. This means there is no ‘bouncing’ of pressure waves ensuring;

• Better results in a shorter space of time.

Unlike radial ‘shockwave’, f-ESWT therapy source allows you to pinpoint damaged tissue, target this region and treat effectively with no impact on healthy tissue.

The linear therapy source is the perfect bridge between radial and focused ESWT. The shockwave delivered covers a larger area of 20mm x 46mm x 2mm (depth x length x height) whilst still maintaining the physiological benefits of true shockwave.
